I have a 6 month old and 2 year old and I am terrified to think what their education is going to cost.  So I have been researching different ways to save money especially since the stock market and interest rates have been so flat.

One way I came up with was coins. If you are reading this you may have considered something similar.
 

As far as the Presidential Dollars Coins are concerned here is what I estimate.

1.) Collecting the Dollar Coins is very easy to do and fun.  I am looking forward to asking each store clerk for dollar coins instead of dollar bills.

2.) This is going to be a great way for Parents, Grandparents Etc. to give Dollar Coins as gifts.  Especially when they know you or your kids are collecting them. 

3.) I do not feel the pinch of saving money for my kids college since it ends up being pocket change.  Couple dollars a day 365 days a year 18 years  =  $13,140 savings and your investment can never go down!  If the full albums only double in price that is $26,280 worth.

4.) Once these albums are full they will be worth much more than just the face value of the coins.  They will bring a premium just for being finished (I estimate around $99.95)  Just look on ebay past collections bring in 4 to 10 times the face value just for being complete.  So total invested $10.95 album +$1.95 shipping assuming your buying more than one $40 in Coins equals $52.90 invested.  If sold for $99.95 you have doubled your money.

5.) Kids & Wife can participate in saving for college (only way I have ever got my wife to save any money). 

6.) Great way to educate your kids about money and especial the importance of saving some.

7.) If they put together one album per week...that should be about one hour a week quite time (priceless).

8.) They will learn history since every coin has historic significance.

9.) Its a hobby that can make you or your kids money instead of being a very costly hobby.

10.) Great gift! between me and my wife we have over 23 nieces and nephews between the ages of  1 and 13 years old.
